The Tamale Circuit Court presided over by His Honour William Appiah Twumasi, has sentenced Danaah Sulemana aged 25 to 10 years imprisonment for defiling a two-year-old girl at Kumbungu in the Northern region.
The accused was convicted upon his own plead in court. The judge upon the plead by the accused sentenced him to 10 years imprisonment to serve as a deterrent for others in the region.
Danaah Sulemana, 25, a driver’s mate was arrested for defiling a two-year-old girl at Kumbungu in the Northern region on June 2.
Chief inspector Victor Kwafo who is the prosecutor of the case told the court that the victim and her friends were playing at a nearby school called Sunniya Primary School in the Kumbungu district when the suspect walked to her and managed to lured her into one of the classrooms with Gh¢2 and defiled her.
He indicated that some residents arrested the suspect and brought him to the Kumbungu police station and reported that Savanna Signatures, a gender advocacy operating in Northern region came to the rescue of the family to assist them pay the medical bills of the victim to ensure that she received the necessary health care.
The medical form of the victim revealed attempted force penetration and part of the hymen is bruised.
